UK charities prompted to boost cyber hygiene with a special Cyber Essentials certification offer

09/02/2015

IT Governance, the leading cyber security services provider and CREST-accredited certification body for the UK Government’s Cyber Essentials scheme, has launched a special offer for UK charities that want to certify to Cyber Essentials and boost their cyber security.

Alan Calder, founder and executive chairman of IT Governance, says, “Charities are as susceptible to cyber attacks as any other organisations. They can be an attractive target to cyber criminals due to the sensitive personal data they store. Meeting the requirements of the Cyber Essentials scheme will help them improve their cyber security posture and better protect their data.

“As a certification body that has already helped charities certify to the scheme, IT Governance is aware of the resource challenges these organisations face. Therefore, we are delighted to be able to support them by offering certification and additional assistance at lower and affordable rates.”

IT Governance has worked with the charities Action for Children and Sheffield Futures, which achieved Cyber Essentials Plus and Cyber Essentials certification respectively.

UK registered charities can use an exclusive voucher code, [CHARITY-CES], to save 10% on the cost of the Cyber Essentials scheme solutions provided by IT Governance.

Charities can use this code at checkout or quote it over the phone. The voucher code is valid throughout February and March 2015 only. Any non-charities using this voucher will be asked to pay the difference before we go ahead with delivery.

The Cyber Essentials scheme represents a set of controls and implementation guidance for basic cyber hygiene against which organisations can achieve different levels of certification.

Cyber Essentials certification requires companies to complete a self-assessment questionnaire, which must be signed off by a senior company representative and verified by an external certification body. An external vulnerability scan will also be required if the company has chosen to be certified through a CREST-approved certification body.

Cyber Essentials Plus certification requires a more advanced level of assurance, in addition to the requirements stated for Cyber Essentials. This level of assurance is reached by an internal assessment and internal scan, conducted on-site by the certification body.

IT Governance offers three ‘all-in’ packaged solutions for certification to Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus. Each solution is a combination of products and services in a fixed-price, fit-for-use package sure to meet any organisation’s preferences for tackling compliance projects.

The all-in ‘Do It Yourself’, ‘Get A Little Help’ and ‘Get A Lot Of Help’ Cyber Essentials packages can be ordered online at www.itgovernance.co.uk/solutions-for-ces-certification.aspx.

UK registered charities can use an exclusive voucher code, [CHARITY-CES], to save 10% on the cost of these packages.

Alternatively, organisations can call +44 (0)845 070 1750 or send an email to request a custom quote.
