E-book formats

Our eBooks are available in Adobe ePub and Adobe eBook formats direct from any IT Governance website. Kindle formats of our titles are available from the Amazon Kindle Store here.

What’s the difference between Adobe ePub and Adobe eBook?

  • Adobe ePub resizes according to the size of the screen on which they are displayed.
  • Adobe eBooks are static, with set page breaks, prohibiting automatic screen adjustment and changes to font size.

Our Adobe ePub and Adobe eBook files are protected using Adobe DRM.

FAQ

How do I access my e-book?

Follow this link to a step-by-step guide on how to access your e-book.

What is the difference between an Adobe ePub and Adobe eBook?

Adobe ePub is a reflowable format, meaning the e-book will resize according to the size of the screen on which it is displayed.

Adobe eBooks are static, with set page breaks, prohibiting automatic screen adjustment and changes to the font size.

Why can’t I have a DRM-free PDF format?

In order to protect our intellectual property, all of our e-books are DRM protected. Unfortunately, we cannot provide e-books as PDFs or in any DRM-free format.

How long will my e-book take to arrive?

If you have purchased an e-book, you will receive two emails: one confirming your order, and the other containing a link to download your e-book.

These automated emails are sent immediately after purchase. If you have not received an email within two hours, please check your junk/spam folder or email us at servicecentre@itgovernance.asia.

Can I read an e-book that I’ve downloaded from IT Governance on my Kindle?

ITGP e-books purchased direct from IT Governance websites cannot be read on Kindle e-readers.

To buy e-books compatible with your Kindle e-reader, please visit the Kindle Store using the link provided on the ITGP book product page, or search for the e-book title in the Amazon Kindle Store here.

Can I print or share my e-book?

ITGP e-books are protected by Adobe ADEPT Digital Rights Management (DRM). The title you download will only be accessible with your Adobe ID. Although it is not possible to copy the content of your e-book, you are able to print your e-book once.

DRM associates your e-books with your Adobe ID and gives you unlimited access to your purchases on up to six different devices.

  • Choose ‘Start’ > ‘Run’.
  • In the ‘Open’ text box, type ‘regedit’ and then press ‘Enter’. This will open the Registry Editor.
  • In the left pane of the Registry Editor, locate the following registry key:

  • In the ‘Confirm Key Delete’ dialog, click ‘OK’.
  • This will deauthorise Adobe Digital Editions (ADE).
  • Reauthorise ADE with your Adobe ID and password.
  • Open the new link that has been sent to your email address.

I’ve received the following error message:

ACT not ready, Check Activation

Solution:
You can typically resolve this error message by reauthorising Adobe Digital Editions. Under the ‘Help’ tab, click on ‘Erase Authorisation’ (you’ll need to enter your Adobe ID), then go back into Help and choose ‘Authorise Computer’. You may also need to close and restart Adobe Digital Editions for the change to take effect.

If this does not work, please follow these instructions from Adobe’s support page.

I can’t find my e-book in Adobe Digital Editions

If you believe that your download has been successful but cannot see your file in the Adobe Digital Editions library, you should check within the directory.

To do this, go to ‘File’, select ‘Add to Library’ and check the location to which your files would normally be downloaded for your purchase.

There is a drop-down menu in the lower-right corner of the ‘Add to Library’ pop-up, which defaults to ‘e-books’. If you still cannot find your file, try selecting the alternative, ‘Adobe Content Server Message’, and check again.

The link to download my e-book does not work

When you purchase an e-book from an IT Governance website, you will receive an email with a download link for your title. That link automatically expires after 30 days.

If you have not downloaded your e-book by this time, please email us at servicecentre@itgovernance.asia and we will arrange for a new link to be sent to the same email address.
