New book explains how to use Cloud services while complying with data protection legislation

03/03/2015

More than 85% of businesses now take advantage of Cloud computing, but it does not sit easily with the UK’s Data Protection Act (DPA). Failure to comply with the DPA could lead to claims for compensation from affected individuals and financial penalties of up to £500,000 from the Information Commissioner’s Office, in addition to reputation damage and loss of customers.

Data Protection and the Cloud, a new title by IT Governance Publishing (ITGP), provides an expert introduction to the use of Cloud services while meeting an organisation’s data protection obligations.

Alan Calder, founder and executive chairman of IT Governance, a major distributor of ITGP titles, says, “Moving to the Cloud creates new security challenges for organisations that cannot be ignored. It is essential that businesses understand the issues and adhere to data protection requirements while being able to benefit from using the Cloud.

“I believe that this book is a great introduction to anyone who is concerned with data protection in the Cloud.”

Data Protection and the Cloud highlights the risks an organisation’s use of the Cloud might generate, and offers the kind of remedial measures that might be taken to mitigate those risks.

The book is available from IT Governance in multiple formats (including softcover, Adobe eBook, Kindle and ePub):
