02/11/2016

IT Governance, the international provider of cyber security expertise and solutions is excited to announce that Alan Calder, the founder and chief executive officer of IT Governance will participate at IMCA’s Hold Maritime Security Seminar debate taking place on Thursday, 10 November in London.

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) will be hosting a one-day long security seminar which focuses on human factors in modern maritime security, and intends to equip attendees with the opportunity to understand the impact of the human factors on security of the offshore marine contracting industry such as oil, gas and renewable energy sectors.

ISO 27001, the standard for information security recognises that individual behaviour constitutes an important element in achieving cyber resilience. Organisations certified to ISO 27001 prove and provide the assurance that these factors have been taken into account to build a strong information security posture.”

Additionally, the seminar will cover both global risk to people, and the internal cyber security threat such employees and has four objectives for the day: to provide awareness of current and future sources of security threat,; to inform delegates on the best practices to mitigate risks; to enable the sharing of experience; and to identify specific issues for IMCA members concerning the human factor in relation to information security.

The morning of the event will be devoted to cyber security and cyber resilience risks from self-inflicted damage, and the afternoon will feature discussion of “Global risk exposure: The changing face of employers’ duty of care”.

Speaking alongside IT Governance’s founder and chief executive officer, Alan Calder, will be Roger Lewis and Robert Hodge of Thomas Miller Speciality, Richard Scurrell of Special Contingency Risks, Rob Acker of Lloyds Register QA, and Rob Taylor of Alert 24.
