IT Governance congratulates T-Systems Limited for achieving Cyber Essentials certification

22/06/2016

IT Governance, the cyber security consultancy firm and CREST-accredited certification body, has helped information and communication technology company T-Systems Limited achieve certification to Cyber Essentials.

Alan Calder, the founder and executive chairman of IT Governance, says: “I am pleased to congratulate T-Systems Limited on their successful certification. This is recognition that the company takes cyber security seriously and demonstrates commitment to protecting their own and their clients’ data.”

The Cyber Essentials scheme provides a set of controls and implementation guidance for basic cyber hygiene against which organisations can achieve certification. The scheme is a government-backed cyber security certification that sets out a minimum standard for cyber security.

Rowan Irwin, Country Security Officer and Head of Security of T-Systems Limited, said: “Gaining the Cyber Essentials certification has been a positive experience for our company, increasing the scope of our marketing environment whilst providing an assurance to customers, both current and future, that we take cyber security seriously. Thanks go to our partners, the IT Governance team, who provided excellent specialist support and advice, making the process seamless, transparent, beneficial and ultimately successful.”

To achieve certification to the Cyber Essentials scheme, organisations must implement five specific security controls:  secure configuration, boundary firewalls and Internet gateways, access control and administrative privilege management, patch management, and malware protection.

T-Systems Limited achieved its certification through IT Governance’s Cyber Essentials – Do It Yourself package. This unique solution is designed to give organisations full control over its Cyber Essentials certification application by providing the entire certification service online, including services such as a review of the self-assessment questionnaire (SAQ), vulnerability scans and the certification service.
