IT Governance certifies Infinigate to Cyber Essentials

20/07/2015

IT Governance, the leading cyber security services provider and CREST-accredited certification body for the UK Government’s Cyber Essentials scheme, has awarded Infinigate UK its Cyber Essentials certificate.

Infinigate UK, a member of the European-wide Infinigate Group, is an industry-leading IT security value-added distributor for seventeen international vendors. Infinigate understands first-hand the value of strong cyber security defences and that strengthening its own information security is of utmost importance.

Chris Payne, Infinigate UK’s senior technical consultant, explains: “As an IT Security Value Added Distributor certifications such as Cyber Essentials are of huge importance to our strategy, not just for our operational security but also to demonstrate to our customers that we practise what we preach. We are extremely proud of this achievement as it represents the hard work we have put into improving and maintaining our security infrastructure over the last fifteen years. In the very near future we plan to continue our journey by attaining the Cyber Essentials Plus certification.”

Alan Calder, the founder and executive chairman of IT Governance, says, “I am pleased to congratulate Infinigate on achieving certification to Cyber Essentials. This is recognition that the company takes cyber security seriously and demonstrates commitment to protecting their and their clients’ data.”

The Cyber Essentials scheme presents a set of controls and implementation guidance for basic cyber hygiene against which organisations can achieve certification.

UK organisations need to prove their compliance with the scheme in order to bid for government contracts that involve the handling of sensitive and personal information, and the provision of certain technical products and services.

In order to achieve Cyber Essentials certification, companies must complete a self-assessment questionnaire, which is signed off by a senior company representative and then verified by an external certification body. An external vulnerability scan will also be required if the company has chosen to be certified through a CREST-approved certification body like IT Governance.

IT Governance’s Cyber Essentials Certification service is designed for organisations that do not require help completing the self-assessment questionnaire and is available as a convenient online service, helping organisations to save time and money.

The IT Governance Cyber Essentials Certification service can be booked online at www.itgovernance.co.uk/shop/p-1622.aspx.
