IT Governance certifies four companies to Cyber Essentials in one week

20/10/2015

Ely, United Kingdom, 20 October 2015 IT Governance, the CREST-accredited certification body for the Cyber Essentials scheme and leading provider of cyber security consultancy, products and services, has helped four British companies to achieve Cyber Essentials certification in the space of one week.

The companies, brightsolid Online Technology Ltd (Cyber Essentials Plus), AdEPT Telecom Plc (Cyber Essentials), Grafton International Limited (Cyber Essentials) and Moon Beever Solicitors (Cyber Essentials), all successfully achieved certification to the scheme between 6 and 9 October 2015.

Founder and executive chairman of IT Governance Alan Calder says, “We are encouraged by the sustained and growing interest in Cyber Essentials certification shown by companies from all industries. Since the launch of the Cyber Essentials scheme in June 2014, more than 1,000 certifications have been issued. We expect that figure to grow exponentially as more businesses look to standards as a way of managing and mitigating cyber risks.”

As IT Governance is a CREST-accredited certification body for Cyber Essentials, all companies applying for certification through IT Governance are required to undertake an external vulnerability scan. These scans assess whether the organisation’s systems and websites are secure from common web-based attacks. This added level of testing provides additional assurance that the company is indeed secure, and provides an independent assessment of the company’s external infrastructure. Cyber Essentials Plus requires additional on-site visits and internal assessments.

Applications for certification to Cyber Essentials with IT Governance are handled through the unique CyberComply portal, which allows companies to conduct the entire application online.

The Cyber Essentials scheme is backed by the UK Government and was launched as an initiative to encourage UK businesses to adopt good practices in cyber security.

To date, IT Governance has certified more than 70 organisations to either Cyber Essentials or Cyber Essentials Plus.
