IT Governance awarded Cyber Essentials Plus certification

03/02/2015

IT Governance, the leading cyber security services provider, has announced that it has been awarded Cyber Essentials Plus certification.

Cyber Essentials Plus certification is awarded to British companies that pass the required internal and external scans proving that they have implemented the critical controls set out in the Cyber Essentials scheme.

Alan Calder, founder and executive chairman of IT Governance, says, “Achieving Cyber Essentials Plus certification has been important to us, not only because we are a certification body ourselves, but also because we want to ensure that we are on top of cyber security by following best practice.

“Our Cyber Essentials Plus certification and our ISO 27001:2013 certificate are proof that we take extra care to protect our and our clients’ information.”

As a CREST-accredited certification body for the UK Government’s Cyber Essentials scheme, IT Governance has already helped many organisations from various sectors achieve Cyber Essentials or Cyber Essentials Plus certification. These include Vodafone, Action for Children, Airbus Defence and Space, and more. A selection of companies certified by IT Governance can be seen here: www.itgovernance.co.uk/cyber-essentials-certified-organisations.aspx.

The Cyber Essentials scheme was officially launched on 5 June 2014. It is emerging as the default minimum standard for cyber security. The UK Government requires organisations to prove compliance with the scheme in order to bid for government contracts that involve the handling of sensitive and personal information, and the provision of certain technical products and services.

Cyber Essentials requires companies to complete a self-assessment questionnaire, which must be signed off by a senior company representative and verified by an external certification body. An external vulnerability scan will also be required if the company has chosen to be certified through a CREST-approved certification body.

Cyber Essentials Plus requires a more advanced level of assurance, in addition to the requirements stated for Cyber Essentials. This level of assurance is reached by an internal assessment and internal scan, conducted on-site by the certification body.

IT Governance offers three ‘all-in’ packaged solutions for certification to Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus. Each solution is a combination of products and services in a fixed-price, fit-for-use package sure to meet any organisation’s preferences for tackling compliance projects. Each of the three packaged solutions is available at a transparent price that enables every organisation to know exactly what their chosen journey to Cyber Essentials certification will cost.

The all-in ‘Do It Yourself’, ‘Get A Little Help’ and ‘Get A Lot Of Help’ Cyber Essentials packages can be ordered online at www.itgovernance.co.uk/solutions-for-ces-certification.aspx.
