IT Governance certifies Computer Application Services Limited to Cyber Essentials

03/08/2015

IT Governance, the leading cyber security services provider and CREST-accredited certification body for the UK Government’s Cyber Essentials scheme, has awarded software development company Computer Application Services (CAS) its Cyber Essentials certificate.

Alan Calder, the founder and executive chairman of IT Governance, says, “I am delighted to congratulate CAS on achieving certification to Cyber Essentials. Compliance with the Cyber Essentials scheme is essential to protect against basic cyber attacks and demonstrates an organisation’s commitment to securing its own and its customers’ data.”

Ken Naismith, the CEO of CAS, says, “Government and corporate clients rely on CAS to take seriously all data security.  We already maintain ISO27001 accreditation for Workpro case management software and for some clients, higher-still security is required.

“If an organisation doesn't measure up to these basics, perhaps it shouldn't be trusted with sensitive information. Yes, Cyber Essentials is another standard in a list of demands on suppliers but we welcome "CE" and accreditation needn't be onerous if you have security in order.”

The Cyber Essentials scheme represents a set of controls and implementation guidance for basic cyber hygiene against which organisations can achieve certification.

UK organisations need to prove their compliance with the scheme in order to bid for government contracts that involve the handling of sensitive and personal information, and the provision of certain technical products and services.

In order to achieve Cyber Essentials certification, companies are required to complete a self-assessment questionnaire, which is signed off by a senior company representative and then verified by an external certification body. An external vulnerability scan will also be required if the company has chosen to be certified through a CREST-approved certification body like IT Governance.

IT Governance’s Cyber Essentials Certification service is designed for organisations that do not require help completing the self-assessment questionnaire and is available as a convenient online service helping organisations to save time and money.

The IT Governance Cyber Essentials Certification service can be booked online at www.itgovernance.co.uk/shop/p-1622.aspx.
