Surviving Cyber Threats

07/03/2016

International cyber security authority and executive chairman of IT Governance Alan Calder will speak at the upcoming ‘Surviving Cyber Threats’ event on 15 March 2016 in London.

Aimed specifically at small, medium-sized and micro enterprises, and hosted by Digital Catapult, the event forms part of a special series of seminars offering help and advice to digital start-ups.

How cyber security can save your business money

The presentation will focus on how being cyber secure can save an organisation money, and will provide an overview of why the new government-backed Cyber Essentials scheme is proving so successful, with well over 1,500 organisations already certified to the scheme.

Alan Calder explains: “Determining the benefits of cyber security and knowing where to start are significant challenges for many organisations. The Cyber Essentials scheme sets out a baseline of cyber security suitable for all organisations. The scheme’s five security controls, when implemented correctly, could prevent around 80% of cyber attacks. Organisations wishing to do business with the government (and, increasingly, in the private sector) are now required to demonstrate compliance with Cyber Essentials at tender and/or contract award stage.”

The Cyber Essentials scheme will continue to play an increasingly important role in managing supply chain security and reducing cyber risks.

Delegates attending this event will find out how Cyber Essentials works, how it can benefit an organisation, what the requirements are for achieving certification, and how to do all of this cost-effectively and without too much effort.

The event will take place at the Digital Catapult Centre, 101 Euston Road, London NW1 2RA.
