10/03/2016

Steve Watkins, the ISMS technical assessor for UKAS, the United Kingdom’s official accreditation body for ISO 27001 certification bodies, will be among the presenters at the ISO27001 Ireland conference taking place in Dublin on 19 April 2016. The event is aimed at information security professionals responsible for implementing ISO 27001.

With years of experience in implementing ISO 27001, and as one of the IT Governance directors who led the world’s first ISO 27001 ISMS implementation, Steve is recognised as an authority in ISO 27001 in the UK and abroad.

Steve has written several publications on ISO 27001, including as co-author of the bestselling IT Governance: An international guide to data security and ISO 27001 (now in its sixth edition), the textbook for the Open University’s postgraduate information security course.

As UKAS advisor, Steve advises on the assessments of certification bodies offering accredited certification. He is also chair of the ISO/IEC 27001 User Group, and sits on the IST/33 committee responsible for the UK’s contributions to the revisions of the ISO 27000 series of standards and on RM/1, the committee responsible for BS 31100 – the British Standard for risk management.

Steve will be hosting a Hive meeting at 10:15 on 19 April 2016, at ISO27001 Ireland, where IT Governance is participating as an event exhibitor.  As one of IT Governance’s most popular trainers on the ISO27001 Certified ISMS Lead Implementer and ISO27001 Certified ISMS Lead Auditor courses, Steve will impart practical knowledge about common implementation and auditing challenges.
