ISO50001 Energy management systems – Requirements with guidance for use specifies requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and improving an energy management system (EMS) to enable an organisation to follow a systematic approach in achieving continual improvement of energy performance, including energy efficiency, energy use and consumption.
The Standard specifies requirements applicable to energy use and consumption, including:
ISO50001:2011 has been designed to be used independently, but can be aligned or integrated with other management systems.
ISO50001:2011 is applicable to any organisation wishing to demonstrate conformance to its stated energy policy. Such conformance is confirmed either by means of self-evaluation and self-declaration of conformance, or by certification of the EMS by an external organisation.
